5. Remove the two front safety belt lower guide bolts and remove the front safety belt lower guide.
6. Remove the front safety belt retractor and tongue anchor rod bolt.
7. Remove the front safety belt retractor Torx bolt and the front safety belt retractor screw.
8. Remove the front safety belt retractor and tongue.
Installation
To install, reverse the removal procedure. lighten the front safety belt retractor and tongue bolts and the front safety belt upper guide bolt to 30-40
N.m (22-30 lb-ft). Tighten the front safety belt retractor and tongue anchor rod bolt to 30-40 N.m (22-30 lb-ft).
Post Collision Seat Belt Replacement
All safety belt assemblies must be replaced after a collision, provided:
1. The safety belt was in use at the time of the accident
OR
2. The safety belt was damaged by the accident (bent retractor, torn webbing, etc.)
OR
3. The safety belt attaching area(s) was damaged by the accident.
CAUTION: Before installing the new safety belt assembly, the safety belt attaching areas must be inspected for damage and distortion. If the
attaching points are damaged and distorted, the sheet metal must be reworked back to its original shape and structural integrity.
Install the new safety belt(s), then functionally test.
Rear Safety Belt Retractor and Tongue
Removal
1. Remove the radio speaker grille.
2. Remove the quarter trim panel. For wagon models, also remove the C-pillar trim panel.
