Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
FRONT
1.
Remove timing belt as described under TIMING BELT.
2.
Remove crankshaft damper, then the front seal.
3.
Install new front seal using oil pump seal replacer tool No. T81P-6700-A or equivalent.
4.
Install crankshaft damper, then the timing belt.
REAR
1.
Remove transaxle assembly.
2.
Remove rear cover plate, then the flywheel.
3.
Using a suitable tool, punch a hole into seal metal surface between lip and block. Screw in threaded end of suitable slide hammer, then remove
seal. Use care not to damage oil seal surface.
4.
Inspect crankshaft seal area for damage that may cause new seal to leak. If damage is present, repair or replace crankshaft as necessary.
5.
Apply a suitable lubricant to new seal, then install seal using seal installer tool No. T81P-6701-A or equivalent.
6.
Tighten bolts evenly as to allow seal to seat straight, then install flywheel and torque attaching bolts to specifications.
7.
Install rear cover plate, then the transaxle.
