An aluminum drive rivet was incorporated at the power steering gear tie rod starting Job 1, 1986, on the subject vehicles. The rivet replaces the coiled
pin at the inner ball joint of the tie rod (Figure 10). There has been no change made to the tie rod, so either the coiled pin or the rivet may be used when
servicing the power steering gear.
