This TSB lists all current calibrations affected. This TSB also includes all previous calibration revision levels not listed.
ISSUE:
A long crank time and/or hard start condition may occur on some vehicles. This may be due to a rich condition during cranking caused by interference
from a ground strap attached to the generator bracket.
ACTION:
Reprogram the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) (on 1997 vehicles Only) and install a new ground strap for all model year vehicles listed. The new
ground strap should reduce the possibility of interference with the PCM. Refer to the following text for details.
Refer to the Instruction Sheet included with the kit for installation procedure which includes reprogramming the PCM on 1997 vehicles only. Refer to the
PCM Application Chart for correct PCM usage on 1997 vehicles only.
NOTE:
REGIONAL APPROVAL MUST BE OBTAINED WHEN IT IS NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE PCM.
