CALIBRATIONS: All with 2V carburetors
No start, slow start, misfire, low power at part throttle and/or poor fuel economy concerns can be caused by spark tracking and crossfire in distributor
cap and/or cracked diaphragm in the distributor vacuum advance assembly.
Figure 9
When checking for these concerns, perform test number two (secondary display) of Part 1 of Section 15, Volume H of the Shop Manual. If an
unsatisfactory condition is found in the secondary display, it can be serviced by replacing the distributor cap, rotor and vacuum advance diaphragm. Use
only vented cap (E5FZ-12106-C) blade rotor (E5FZ-12200-A) and a vented diaphragm assembly of the same calibration. (See Figure 9)
NOTE:
Use silicone dielectric grease (D7AZ- 19A331-A) on the blade rotor as per the service manual instructions.
When servicing poor part throttle engine performance or poor fuel economy concerns, check the operation of the distributor vacuum advance diaphragm
per Shop Manual, Volume H, Emission Diagnosis, Section 15, Distributor Vacuum Advance Mechanism Testing. If the diaphragm assembly is
confirmed inoperative, replace with a vented diaphragm assembly of the same calibration. (See Figure 9)
