Check the vehicle build date:
^
If prior to 6/12/1997, continue with Step 9
^
If after 6/12/1997, skip Step 9 and continue with Step 10.
Drive the vehicle and slowly accelerate from 88 to 112 km/h (55 to 70 mph) (where legal speed permits). Gradually decelerate from 112 to 88 km/h (70
to 55 mph). Note the level of vibration and audible noise level that is present. Decelerate to approximately 88 km/h (55 mph) and shift the transmission
into Neutral. While in Neutral, increase the engine speed to approximately 2000 rpm and shift back into Overdrive position.
Repeat this procedure 5-10 times. This procedure will re-align some of the internal components of the transmission. If the level of vibration and/or noise
changes during this procedure, call a Ford Authorized Distributor (FAD) for a Ford Quality Remanufactured (FOR) replacement transmission.
If the level of vibration and/or noise remains unchanged during this procedure, do not replace the transmission, proceed to Step 10.
