Differential Case: Testing and Inspection
Front
1. Remove the front axle assembly.
2. Remove the axle housing cover.
(1) Remove the drain plug.
(2) Drain the differential lubricant.
(3) Remove the bolts.
(4) Remove the axle housing cover.
3. Install Bench Mounted Holding Fixture.
CAUTION: Fixture mounting bolts (A) must have a minimum thread engagement in carrier.
4. Install Dial Indicator With Bracketry.
5. Check the ring gear runout.
(1) Rotate the differential.
