Explorer 2WD V6-245 4.0L SOHC VIN E EFI (1997)

Remove the rear brake shoes and linings along with the inboard brake shoe retracting spring.

Inspect the components for excessive wear or damage and replace as required.
INSTALLATION:

Install the rear brake shoes and linings along with the inboard brake shoe retracting spring.
NOTE: Lubricate the brake shoe contact point before installation of rear brake shoes using Disc Brake Caliper Slide Grease D7AZ-19540-A or
equivalent meeting Ford specification ESA-MlC172-A.

Install the brake shoe hold-down spring.

Install the brake adjuster screw.

Install the brake shoe hold-down spring.

Install the brake shoe adjusting screw spring.

Install the outboard brake shoe retracting spring.
-
Use a Brake Adjusting Gauge to measure the inside diameter of the drum portion of the rear disc brake rotor.

Use a Brake Adjusting Gauge to set the rear brake shoe and lining diameter to 0.0508 mm (0.020 inch) less than the inside diameter of the drum
portion of the rear disc brake rotor.

Install the rear disc brake rotor.
