HOOD - AIR INTAKE TUBE CONTACTING HOOD
INSULATOR CAUSING INSULATOR WEAR - 4.0L
SOHC ENGINES ONLY

LIGHT TRUCK: 
1997 EXPLORER

ISSUE
The air intake tube may be contacting the hood insulator resulting in excessive wear on the hood insulator. This may be caused by insufficient clearance
between the air intake tube and hood insulator.

ACTION
Replace the air intake tube. The new air intake tube will provide an additional clearance to reduce the possibility of contact. Also, replace the hood
insulator if required. Refer to Section 303-12 of the 1997 Explorer Workshop Manual for installation procedure.
