Removal

All vehicles 

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Maintenance/Service and Repair.
2. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Battery.
3. Remove the air cleaner and the air cleaner outlet pipe and resonator. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
4. Remove the generator. For additional information, refer to Alternator.
5. Remove the bolts and position the cooling fan shroud away from the radiator.

6. Remove the oil level indicator and the oil level indicator tube bolt.

7. Install the special tools.
