Removal

NOTICE:  Suspension fasteners are critical parts because they affect performance of vital components and systems and their failure may result
in major service expense. New parts must be installed with the same part numbers or equivalent parts, if replacement is necessary. Do not use a
replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct
retention of these parts.

1. Measure the distance from the center of the hub to the lip of the fender with the vehicle in a level, static ground position (curb height).

2. Remove the wheel knuckle. For additional information, refer to Wheel Knuckle  See: Front Steering Knuckle/Service and Repair.

3. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the stud from turning while removing the nut.

Remove and discard the stabilizer bar link lower nut.

4. Remove and discard the lower arm rearward nut and bolt.

5. Remove and discard the lower arm forward nut and bolt.

6. Remove the shock absorber lower nut, bolt and the lower arm.

Discard the shock absorber lower nut and bolt.

Installation

NOTICE:  Do not tighten the shock absorber lower nut, lower arm forward nut or lower arm rearward nut until the installation procedure is
complete and the weight of the vehicle is resting on the wheel and tire assemblies.

1. Position the lower arm and loosely install the new shock absorber lower bolt and nut.

2. Loosely install the new lower arm forward nut and bolt.

3. Loosely install the new lower arm rearward nut and bolt.

4. NOTE: Use the hex-holding feature to prevent the stud from turning while installing the nut.

Install the new stabilizer bar link lower nut.

Tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).

5. Use a suitable jack to raise the suspension until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of the fender is equal to the measurement

taken in Step 1 (curb height).
