Idle Speed: Adjustments
1983 V8-460
1.
Run engine until it reaches operating temperature.
2.
Place manual transmission in neutral or automatic transmission in park, place A/C-heater control in off position and set parking brake.
3.
Remove air cleaner.
4.
Disconnect and plug decel throttle control kicker diaphragm vacuum hose.
5.
Connect slave vacuum hose from engine manifold vacuum source to decel throttle control kicker.
6.
Run engine at approximately 2500 RPM for 15 seconds, then release throttle.
7.
Adjust decel throttle control engine speed by turning adjustment nut.
8.
Disconnect slave vacuum hose and allow engine to return to curb idle.
9.
Adjust curb idle speed by turning curb idle adjusting screw.
