FUEL SYSTEM - 6.9L AND 7.3L DIESEL ENGINE - FUEL TANK SLOW TO FILL - VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 10/19/87

LIGHT TRUCK:

1988 F SERIES

ISSUE:

Slow to fill fuel tanks on F Series vehicles equipped with a 6.9L or 7.3L diesel engine may be caused by the fuel filler pipe. The current filler
pipe may not be large enough to accept the 1-3/16" diameter refueling nozzle used by some service stations.

ACTION:

To correct this, install new fuel tank filler pipe that is large enough to accept the 1-3/16" diameter refueling nozzle. Refer to the appropriate
Light Truck Shop Manual, Volume B, Section 24-50-39 for removal and installation procedures. Refer to the fuel tank filler pipe application
chart on this page for the correct service part.
