Transfer Case Cover: Service and Repair
DISASSEMBLY
1.
Remove snap ring retaining rear output shaft ball bearing assembly in the cover.
2.
Turn cover over and remove the rear output shaft seal using seal remover 1175-AG and slide hammer T50T-100-A.
3.
Remove speedometer drive gear.
4.
Press rear output shaft ball bearing from cover.
5.
Remove speedometer gear adapter.
6.
Remove front output shaft inner needle bearing from cover using seal remover OTC-33864 and slide hammer T50T-100-A.
ASSEMBLY
1.
Press a new needle bearing into cover using tool No. T80T-7127-B or equivalent.
2.
Press a new ball bearing assembly into cover, then install snap ring.
3.
Turn the cover and install the speedometer drive gear.
4.
Install a new output shaft seal.
5.
Install speedometer gear adapter.
