SEVERE DUTY OPERATION - 17,500 LB F-550 AND
ALL F-450 ONLY

ISSUE
Premature rear wheel inner brake pad wear may occur on some vehicles used in severe duty applications. This may be due to dirt and debris
accumulating on the inboard rotor friction surface.
ACTION
Install an additional shield to reduce the possibility of debris from accumulating on inner rotor friction surfaces. Refer to the following Service Procedure
for details.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1999 F-550 WITH BUILD DATE PRIOR TO 6/15/1998 AND ALL F-450 VEHICLES
NOTE
PROCEDURE TO BE COMPLETED ON BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT HAND SIDE.
1.
Raise and support rear of vehicle.
2.
Remove rear wheels.
3.
Disconnect rear parking brake cable from the rear wheel.
4.
Remove the four (4) bolts holding the production brake dust shield in place.
5.
Remove the production brake dust shield and place on work bench. For additional information, refer to the appropriate Workshop Manual, Section
206-04.
