F 550 2WD Super Duty V8-6.0L DSL Turbo VIN P (2006)
CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. If exposed to these charges, damage can result.
NOTE:
-
The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the RCM fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not indicate
a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
-
The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
-
Repair is made by installing a new part only. If the new part does not correct the condition, install the original part and carry out the diagnostic
procedure again.
1. Depower the system.
2. NOTE: The RCM is mounted on the center tunnel under the instrument panel.
Pull out to release the retaining clips and remove the RCM cover.
3. Disconnect the RCM.
1
Disconnect the RCM electrical connector locking clip.
2
Disconnect the RCM electrical connector.
3
Remove the RCM retaining bolt.
4. Remove the 2 remaining retaining bolts and the RCM module.
Installation
1. WARNING: The tightening torque of the air bag restraints control module (RCM) retaining bolts is critical for correct system
operation.
Position the RCM and install the 2 bolts.
-
Tighten to 12 Nm (9 lb-ft).
