Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Remove the air cleaner.
    For additional information, refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4) (303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering, Removal and Installation).

  1. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil pack.

  1. Disconnect the ignition coil pack electrical connector.

  1. Remove the ignition coil pack.
  1. Drain the cooling system.
    For additional information, refer to: Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4), General Procedures).

  1. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Disconnect the radiator hose and the heater hose from the coolant outlet connector.

  1. Disconnect the coolant expansion tank hose from the coolant outlet connector.

  1. Disconnect the thermostat housing coolant hose from the coolant outlet connector.

  1. Remove the coolant outlet connector.
    • Discard the gasket.

Installation
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new coolant outlet connector gasket.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
