Removal and Installation

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
    For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).

2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Removal Details

Item 7 : Turbocharger outlet pipe

CAUTION:
CAUTION:The turbocharger must be protected from ingress of foreign material. Failure to follow this instruction may cause premature failure of the turbocharger.
  1. Using a suitable lint-free material cover the turbocharger outlet pipe to prevent ingress of foreign material.

Item 17 : Charge air cooler intake pipe

  1. Detach the charge air cooler intake pipe from the catalytic convertor and secure it to one side.

Item 19 : Catalytic convertor to turbocharger clamp

  1. Make a note of the position of the catalytic convertor to turbocharger clamp.

Installation Details

Item 19 : Catalytic convertor to turbocharger clamp

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not tighten the catalytic convertor to turbocharger clamp at this stage.
    Install the catalytic convertor to turbocharger clamp in the same position as when removed.

Item 18 : Catalytic convertor to engine retaining bolt

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure the catalytic convertor and turbocharger mating surfaces are correctly aligned before the catalytic convertor exhaust clamp is tightened. Failure to follow this instruction may result in premature failure of the catalytic convertor.
    Install the catalytic convertor retaining bolt.
    • Tighten the catalytic convertor to turbocharger clamp.

Item 4 : Charge air cooler intake pipe

NOTE:
NOTE:Make sure that the inside of the charge air cooler intake pipe is clean and free from any oil residue, as this will reduce the installation grip of the pipe to the turbocharger. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the turbocharger.

Item 2 : Charge air cooler outlet pipe

NOTE:
NOTE:Make sure that the inside of the charge air cooler outlet pipe is clean and free from any oil residue, as this will reduce the installation grip of the pipe to the turbocharger. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the turbocharger.
