Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to: Air Cleaner - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4) (303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering, Removal and Installation). | | -
Remove the accessory drive belt. For additional information, refer to: Accessory Drive Belt - 2.0L Duratec-HE (MI4) (303-05 Accessory Drive, Removal and Installation). | | -
CAUTION:Over bending of the exhaust flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure. Support the exhaust flexible pipe with a support wrap or splint. | | -
Disconnect the catalytic converter from the exhaust flexible pipe. | | -
Remove the engine support insulator retaining bolt. | 7. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s). 5 - CKP sensor electrical connector 6 - Intermediate shaft center bearing cap 7 - Intermediate shaft center bearing cap retaining bracket retaining bolts 8 - Intermediate shaft center bearing cap retaining bracket NOTE:Install a new catalytic converter to exhaust flexible pipe gasket. | -

Detach the generator wiring harness from the retaining clip. | Item 2 : Generator electrical connector | -
Disconnect the generator electrical connector (generator cooling duct shown removed for clarity). - Release the locking tang.

Detach the CKP sensor wiring harness retaining clip from the generator. | Item 9 : Generator | -
With the aid of another technician, push the engine towards the radiator and remove the generator and generator cooling duct. | Item 10 : Generator cooling duct | -
Remove the generator cooling duct from the generator. | Installation Details Item 3 : Battery cable to generator electrical connector NOTE:The battery cable to generator electrical connector must follow the profile of the generator as closely as possible. |
