ISSUE
Some 2009 Ford Flex vehicles built prior to 8/10/2008 may exhibit poor A/C performance under very high ambient conditions above 100 degrees
Fahrenheit (37.8 degrees Celsius). This can be caused by the level of refrigerant in the system and the calibration level of the powertrain control module
(PCM).
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
To correct this concern perform the following:
1.
Completely recover and evacuate the A/C system. Recharge the system with only 36 oz. of R134a per Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00.
2.
Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS release 56.12 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2008.7 DVD.
Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
