Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill
All vehicles
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.
2. NOTE: If an internal problem is suspected, drain the transmission fluid through a paper filter. A small amount of metal or friction particles may be
found from normal wear. If an excessive amount of metal or friction material is present, the transaxle will need to be overhauled.
Remove the transmission fluid drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain.
3. Install the transmission fluid drain plug.

Tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
Vehicles equipped with a 3.5L engine
4. Remove the transmission fluid level indicator. If the transaxle was removed and disassembled, fill the transaxle with 6.2L (6.5 qt) of clean
transmission fluid. If the main control cover was removed for in-vehicle repair, fill the transaxle with 4.3L (4.5 qt) of clean transmission fluid.
Vehicles equipped with a 3.5L Gasoline Turbocharged Direct Injection (GTDI) engine
5. Clean the area around the clamp that connects the Air Cleaner (ACL) to the ACL outlet pipe.
