The clutch transmits the engine torque to the transmission.
The clutch consists of a friction disc and a pressure plate which is bolted to the flywheel.
When it is operated the power transfer from the engine to the transmission is interrupted. The clutch is therefore engaged when the pedal is up. When the pedal is operated the clutch is disengaged.
