Removal and Installation

Removal

NOTE:
NOTE:Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. Remove the engine cover.

  1. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

  1. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield upper retaining bolts.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the engine undershield.
    • Rotate the locking tangs counterclockwise.
  1. Drain the cooling system.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take care not to place excessive strain on the HO2S wiring harness. Failure to follow this instruction may result in the failure of the HO2S.
    Detach the catalytic converter heat shield.
    1. Remove the catalytic converter heat shield lower retaining bolts.
    1. Lift the catalytic converter heat shield over the HO2S and position it to one side.

  1. Remove the catalytic converter support bracket.

  1. Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.
    • Remove the block heater electrical connector locking clip.
    • Disconnect the block heater electrical connector.

  1. Remove the block heater.
    • Apply a bead of adhesive to the block heater thread prior installation.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
