Removal and Installation

Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS)
  1. Remove the EGR valve tube.
    For additional information, refer to: Exhaust Manifold to Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) Valve Tube (303-08D Engine Emission Control - 2.0L Duratorq-TDCi (DW) Diesel, Removal and Installation).

2. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s).

3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. Vehicles with global closing, initialize the door window motors.
    For additional information, refer to: Door Window Motor Initialization (501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms, General Procedures).
  1. If a new EGR valve is installed, reset the EGR valve base value using Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS).

Removal Details

Item 3 : EGR valve lower retaining bolt

NOTE:
NOTE:Do not remove the EGR valve lower retaining bolt.
  1. Loosen the EGR valve retaining bolt.

Item 5 : EGR valve

  1. Slide the EGR valve off the EGR valve support bracket.

Installation Details

Item 5 : EGR valve

  1. To aid installation of a new EGR valve, loosely install the EGR valve lower retaining bolt to the new EGR valve.

Item 4 : EGR valve retaining bolts

  1. Install the EGR valve retaining bolts finger tight.

Item 3 : EGR valve lower retaining bolt

  1. Do not tighten the EGR valve lower retaining bolt at this stage.

Item 2 : EGR cooler to EGR valve retaining bolts

  1. Install the EGR cooler to EGR valve retaining bolts.
    Tighten the EGR valve retaining bolts in the order indicated.
    1. Tighten the EGR cooler to EGR valve retaining bolts.
    1. Tighten the EGR valve retaining bolts.
    1. Tighten the EGR valve lower retaining bolt.
