Removal and Installation

  1. Replacement parts
    • Back panel
    • Rear crossmember
    • Rear crossmember reinforcement

Removal

  1. General information
    • Necessary removal work: rear bumper, rear lamps, back panel inner trim and quarter panel trim.
    • Move carpets and wiring out of the working area.

  1. Back panel
    • Mill out the spot welds.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The rear crossmember is inserted between the rear crossmember reinforcements and the luggage compartment floor in the position 2 areas.
    Rear crossmember
    1. Mill out the spot welds.
    1. Mill out the spot welds (two panel thicknesses).

  1. Rear crossmember (inner view)
    • Mill out the spot welds.

  1. Rear crossmember reinforcements
    1. Mill out the spot welds.
    1. Mill out the spot welds from inside.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Before resistance spot welding of body panels with a total panel thickness of 3 mm and greater, the welding equipment instructions contained in sub-section 501-25 must be followed.
  1. Rear crossmember reinforcements
    • Resistance spot weld.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Insert the rear crossmember between the rear crossmember reinforcements and the luggage compartment floor panel.

    • Resistance spot weld.

  1. Back panel
    • Resistance spot weld.
