Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. General notes
    • Necessary removal work: Trunk lid, rear bumper, wheel arch trim, rear lamp, quarter panel trim.
    • Reposition the carpeting and the wiring harness away from the working area.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:
    • The cut must not extend any further forward than the dimension stated, since otherwise components of the folding roof system would have to be removed.
    • The cut in the side panel may vary between positions 1 and 2 depending on the damage.
    • The repair shown describes a partial rear replacement.
    Cutting options
    1. Rear cut.
    1. Front cut location.

  1. Quarter panel section
    1. Separating cut.
    1. Mill out the spot welds (two panel thicknesses).

    • Mill out the spot welds.

Installation

NOTE:
NOTE:Before resistance spot welding of body panels with a total panel thickness of 3 mm and greater, the welding equipment instructions contained in sub-section 501-25 must be followed.

    • Punch holes for puddle welding.

  1. Quarter panel section
    1. Continuous MIG weld seam.
    1. Puddle weld.
    1. Resistance spot weld.
