Removal and Installation

Removal

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and the throttle plate have a special coating applied during manufacture which should not be removed.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

  1. Disconnect the charge air cooler outlet pipe from the throttle body intake housing and position it to one side.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the throttle body intake housing.

  1. Disconnect the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Remove the throttle body intake housing from the thottle body.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable from the accelerator cable bracket.
    1. Release the locking tangs.
    1. Detach the accelerator cable.

  1. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the throttle body linkage.

  1. Disconnect the throttle position (TP) sensor electrical connector.

  1. Remove the throttle body.

  1. Remove the accelerator cable retaining bracket from the thottle body.
    1. Discard the the intake manifold gasket to throttle body sealing plate.

Installation

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Make sure that the inside of the charge air cooler outlet pipe end is clean and free from any oil residue as this will reduce the installation grip of the pipe to the throttle body intake housing. Failure to follow this may result in damage to the engine.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:Do not attempt to clean the throttle body. The bore and the throttle plate have a special coating applied during manufacture which should not be removed.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new intake manifold gasket to thottle body sealing plate.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
