Description and Operation

Headlamps

NOTE:
NOTE:When replacing the bulbs, ensure that bulbs with a special coating are used (not conventional H1 or H7 bulbs) in order to prevent yellowing of the plastic lenses from the inside.

The front side lights are an integral part of the headlamp housing. The headlamp is equipped with an H7 bulb for the dipped beam and an H1 bulb for the main beam and headlamp flasher.

The turn signal in the bumper has a clear P-21W bulb.

Headlamp Leveling System

NOTE:
NOTE:For basic headlamp alignment, the headlamp leveling switch must be in the 0 position.

Each headlamp is equipped with a servo motor, which can be operated via the switch. The servo motor swivels the adjustable headlamp reflector via an adjustment spindle until the desired position is reached.

The headlamp leveling switch has five positions. The switch engages in position 0, which is the basic setting. In position 4, the headlamp is set to a maximum downward angle.

The headlamp leveling system is actuated by DC motors. The voltage is adjusted via a potentiometer integrated into the headlamp leveling switch (required value). According to the same principle, the actuator in the motor produces a voltage corresponding to the position of the adjustment spindle (actual value).

The desired value (switch position) and the actual value (adjustment spindle) are compared. Depending on the voltage difference, the reflectors are swivelled upwards or downwards until the voltage values are identical.

For safety reasons, the system adjusts to the dipped beam setting if the signal is missing or defective.
