Removal
WARNING: Wait at least one minute after disconnecting the battery ground cable before disconnecting any supplemental restraint system electrical
connectors. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
WARNING: Do not use radio key code savers when working on the supplemental restraint system. Failure to follow this instruction may result in
personal injury.
WARNING: Always wear safety glasses when working on an air bag equipped vehicle and when handling the air bag module. Failure to follow this
instruction may result in personal injury.
WARNING: Carry a live air bag with the bag and trim cover pointed away from the body. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal
injury.
WARNING: Live air bag modules must only be placed on benches which have been ground bonded. Failure to follow this instruction may result in
personal injury.
WARNING: Repair is made by installing a new part only. Do not install new parts unless the original part is damaged or found to be unserviceable
after the completion of the correct diagnostic procedures. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
WARNING: Never probe the electrical connectors of air bag modules or any other supplemental restraint system electrical connectors. Failure to
follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
NOTE: The air bag warning lamp illuminates when the RCM fuse is removed and the ignition switch is ON. This is normal operation and does not
indicate a supplemental restraint system (SRS) fault.
NOTE: The SRS must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.
1. Depower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, See: Air Bag(s) Arming and Disarming/Service and Repair
2. WARNING: If a new passenger air bag module is being installed following air bag deployment, a new instrument panel must be installed. Failure
to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
NOTE: If a new passenger air bag module is being installed as a result of the existing passenger air bag module being unserviceable, do not install a
new instrument panel.
Remove the instrument panel.
3. Remove the glove box.
