12‐014 Caliper Piston Expander
Remove
CAUTION:
If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
1. Slacken the wheel bolts, raise the vehicle and remove the front road wheel.
2. Slacken the brake hose connection.
1. Clamp the brake hose.
2. Slacken the brake hose union.
3. Remove the spring retaining clip.
Caliper Piston Housing – Front – Remove and Install (one side) (12 245 0)
4. Remove the caliper piston housing.
1. Remove the bolt protection caps.
2. Remove the retaining bolts.
5. Disconnect the brake hose from the caliper piston housing by rotating the piston housing.
Disc Pads – Front – Remove and Install (one side) (wheel removed) (12 233 4)
6. Remove the brake pads.
1. Remove the outer brake pad from the caliper anchor bracket.
2. Unclip the inner brake pad from the caliper piston housing.
7. Remove the caliper anchor bracket.
Install
8. Refit the caliper anchor bracket.
9. When refitting new brake pads return the caliper piston to the fully retracted position.
Disc Pads – Front – Remove and Install (one side) (wheel removed) (12 233 4)
10. Refit the brake pads.
11. Refit the brake hose to the caliper piston housing.
Do not tighten brake hose union at this stage.
Caliper Piston Housing – Front – Remove and Install (one side) (12 245 0)
12. Refit the caliper piston housing.
1. Refit the retaining bolts.
2. Refit the bolt protection caps.
13. Refit the spring retaining clip.
14. Tighten the brake hose union.
1. Tighten the brake hose union.
2. Unclamp the brake hose.
15. Install the wheel, refer to specifications for wheel bolt torques.
16. Bleed the braking system, refer to Operation Number
