Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the engine undershield (two nuts and four bolts).
  1. Drain the engine oil.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new oil drain plug washer.
    Install the oil drain plug.

  1. Disconnect the oil level and temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Detach the wiring harness from the retaining bracket.

  1. Remove the secondary air injection (AIR) pump.
    1. Remove the bolts.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    1. Detach the hose.

  1. Remove the oil pan bolts and the transaxle flange retaining bolts.

  1. Using the special tool, remove the oil pan.
    • Slide the special tool around the profile of the oil pan.
    • Discard the gaskets.

Installation

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The seal bead diameter must not be greater than 3 mm.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install the oil pan within five minutes of applying the sealer.
    Apply a 2.5 mm diameter bead of sealer to the oil pan.

  1. Install the oil pan.
    1. Install the oil pan bolts.
    1. Install the transaxle flange retaining bolts.

  1. Install the secondary air injection (AIR) pump.
    1. Attach the hose.
    1. Connect the electrical connector.
    1. Install the bolts.

  1. Connect the oil level and temperature sensor electrical connector.
    • Attach the wiring harness to the retaining bracket.

  1. Install the engine undershield (two nuts and four bolts).
  1. Lower the vehicle.
  1. Fill the engine with engine oil.
