Remover/Installer, Cooling Hose Clamp

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.

2. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Section  303-12 Intake Air Distribution and Filtering.

3. Remove the engine upper cover.

4. Remove the engine noise reduction material.

5. Detach the turbocharger oil supply tube from the oil filter housing and remove the turbocharger oil supply tube retaining bracket from the cylinder head (engine shown removed for clarity).

6. Remove the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler to exhaust manifold tube bolts from the EGR cooler (vehicle shown raised for clarity).
   • Discard the gasket.

7. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe retaining bolt.

8. Detach the PCV hose from the air cleaner outlet pipe.

9. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

10. Remove the engine undershield.

11. Remove the exhaust flexible pipe. For additional information, refer to Section  309-00 Exhaust System.

12. Remove the exhaust left-hand hanger insulator bracket.

13. Remove the turbocharger heat shield from the exhaust manifold.

14. Detach the oil supply tube retaining bracket from the exhaust manifold.

15. Detach the oil supply tube union from the turbocharger.

16. Remove the air cleaner outlet pipe.

17. Lower the vehicle.

18. Remove the engine front mount retaining bolts.

19. Slide the engine forwards.

20. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

21. Remove the charge air cooler intake pipe retaining bracket.

22. Remove the charge air cooler intake pipe bracket retaining bolt.

23. Using the special tool, remove the charge air cooler intake pipe.

24. Disconnect the vacuum line from the turbocharger vane adjustment vacuum diaphragm unit.

25. Remove the turbocharger bracket retaining bolt.

26. Loosen the turbocharger bracket retaining bolt.

27. Disconnect the turbocharger oil return tube from the cylinder block.

28. Remove the EGR cooler to exhaust manifold tube.
    • Discard the gaskets.

29. Remove the turbocharger and exhaust manifold assembly.
    • Discard the gaskets, the bolts, the nuts, and the studs.
    • Remove the exhaust heat shield bracket.

   NOTE:Install new self-locking nuts, bolts, studs, gaskets and O-ring seals.
   To install, reverse the removal procedure.
