Disassembly and Assembly of Subassemblies

Disassembly

NOTE:
NOTE:Carefully clean all parts and check them for wear and damage.
  1. Remove the piston rings.

  1. Remove the gasket.
    • Discard the gasket.

  1. Remove the servo piston.

  1. Disassemble the transaxle oil pump assembly.
    1. Remove the plastic thrust washer.
    1. Remove the bolt.
    1. Remove the stator shaft.
    1. Remove the outer toothed wheel.
    1. Remove the inner toothed wheel.
    1. Remove the transaxle oil pump housing.
    1. Remove the O-ring.
    • Discard the bolt.
    • Discard the O-ring.

Assembly
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Lubricate the components and sealing rings with automatic transmission fluid before assembly.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install the pump inner toothed wheel with the large groove facing the stator shaft.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install the pump outer toothed wheel with the dot marking pointing towards the stator shaft.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new stator shaft retaining bolt.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new transaxle oil pump O-ring.
    Assemble the transaxle oil pump assembly.
    1. Install the O-ring.
    1. Install the pump inner toothed wheel.
    1. Install the pump outer toothed wheel.
    1. Install the stator shaft.
    1. Tighten the stator shaft retaining bolt in two stages:
    • Stage 1: 10 Nm.
    • Stage 2: 45 degrees.
    1. Install the plastic thrust washer.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The seal is vulcanized onto the servo piston. If the seal is damaged, install a new servo piston.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Lubricate the servo piston with clean automatic transmission fluid.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Rotate the piston slightly when installing.
    Install the servo piston.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Ensure that the ends of the piston rings are hooked together.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take care not to twist the piston ring out of the groove on one side.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Installation position of the piston rings.
    Install the piston rings.
    • Install the piston ring in the groove.
    • To hook ends together press sides of the ring in and guide ends over one another.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new gasket.
    Install the gasket.
