  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the transaxle is not in emergency run operation.
    Connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC).
    • Using the diagnostic tool, check that the transmission fluid temperature is less than 30°C.
    • Connect the diagnostic tool to the DLC connector.
    • Select the indicator group no. 2 on the diagnostic tool.
    • The diagnostic tool display indicates the automatic transmission fluid temperature.
    • Shift the transmission selector lever to the "P" (park) position.
  1. Start the engine.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Hold the selector lever in each position for a few seconds.
    When the transmission fluid temperature reaches 30 °C, move the selector lever from "P" (park) position to "1" position and back to "P" (park) position.
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Ensure that the selector lever is in the "P" (park) position.
    Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the engine undershield.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The temperature for the transaxle should be between 35°C and 45°C.
    Check the transmission fluid temperature.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Only carry out the following step for vehicles without transaxle lower cover.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Check the fluid level with the vehicle on a level surface.
    Remove the test plug.
    • Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
    • Discard the test plug seal.

    NOTE:Only carry out the following step for vehicles with transaxle lower cover.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Check the fluid level with the vehicle on a level surface.
    Remove the test plug.
    • Allow the oil to drain into a suitable container.
    • Discard the test plug seal.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Transmission fluid should escape from the test outlet.
    Check for escaping transmission fluid.
  1. If no transmission fluid escapes, refill the transmission fluid.

    NOTE:Install a new test plug seal.
    Install the test plug.

    NOTE:Install a new test plug seal.
    Install the test plug.

  1. Install the engine undershield.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
    • Switch off the engine.
    • Remove the diagnostic tool.
