Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the engine undershield.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Excessive bending of the exhaust flexible pipe may cause damage resulting in failure.
    Support the exhaust flexible pipe with a support wrap or suitable splint.

  1. Detach the exhaust flexible pipe from the turbocharger.
    • Discard the nuts.

  1. Detach the exhaust flexible pipe from the catalytic converter.
    • Discard the nuts and bolts.

  1. Detach the exhaust flexible pipe from the exhaust hanger insulators.
  1. Remove the exhaust flexible pipe.
    • Discard the gasket.

Installation

CAUTION:
CAUTION:Never use jointing compound forward of the catalytic converter.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install new bolts.
    Coat the catalytic converter bolts with anti-seize grease

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new gasket and new nuts.
    Attach the exhaust flexible pipe to the catalytic converter.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Check the exhaust hanger insulator for damage and fatigue. Install new exhaust hangers insulators as required.
    Install the exhaust flexible pipe to the exhaust hanger insulators using a suitable lubricant
  1. Coat the turbocharger studs with anti-seize grease

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new gasket and new nuts.
    Attach the exhaust flexible pipe to the turbocharger.

  1. Remove the exhaust flexible pipe support wrap or splint assembly.

  1. Install the engine undershield.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
