Removal and Installation

Transmission Jack
Brake Hose Clamp

Removal

CAUTION:
CAUTION:If brake fluid is spilt on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
  1. Remove the springs.
    For additional information, refer to Spring in this section.

  1. Using a suitable brake hose clamp, clamp the brake hose.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Cap the brake tube to prevent fluid loss and dirt ingress.
    Disconnect the brake hose from the brake tube.
    1. Disconnect the brake tube union.
    1. Remove the brake hose retaining clips.

  1. Disconnect the rear wheel speed sensor electrical connectors.

  1. Loosen the parking brake cable adjustment nut.
    • Loosen the adjustment nut until the levers on the brake caliper return to their stops.

  1. Detach the rear parking brake cables from the equalizer.
    1. Detach the rear parking brake cables from the equalizer.
    1. Detach the rear parking brake cables from the brackets.

  1. Detach the stabilizer bar from both trailing arms.

  1. Detach the headlamp levelling sensor connecting link from the trailing arm (if equipped).
  1. Using a suitable transmission jack, support the trailing arm.

  1. Remove the trailing arms.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:When supporting the rear crossmember with a suitable transmission jack, make sure the rear crossmember is secured to the transmission jack using a vehicle retention strap to prevent tilting. Failure to follow this instruction may result in person injury.
    Using a suitable transmission jack, support the trailing arm.

  1. Remove the rear axle roll restrictor retaining bolt.

  1. Remove the rear crossmember.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Adjust the parking brake. For additional information, refer to Section  206-05 Parking Brake and Actuation.
  1. Bleed the brake system. For additional information, refer to Section  206-00 Brake System - General Information.
