Pull off the EI coil connector. | | -
Disconnect the intake pipe from the air cleaner. | | -
Disconnect the intake pipe from the throttle body. | | -
CAUTION:Twist the spark plug connectors slightly before disconnecting them. Pull on the connector and not on the cable. Pull off the spark plug connectors. - Unclip the HT leads and lay them to one side.

Detach the accelerator cable. - Unclip the accelerator cable.
- Pull off the clip.
- Unhook the accelerator cable from throttle plate lever.

Remove the oil filler cap. - Pull the crankcase breather hose off the T-piece.
| Vehicles with mass air flow (MAF) sensor | -
Disconnect the plugs and remove the vacuum lines. - Two plugs (engine wiring loom)
- Brake servo vacuum line
- Evaporative emission control valve (EVAP) vacuum line
- Unclip the wiring bracket.
| Vehicles with temperature/manifold absolute pressure (T-MAP) sensor | -
Separate the connectors and pull off the vacuum hoses. - Engine wiring loom plug
- Vacuum line - fuel pressure control
- Vacuum hose - crankcase ventilation
- Brake servo vacuum line
- T-MAP sensor connector

Disconnect the plugs from the camshaft position sensor (CMP sensor) and oil pressure switch. | | -
Disconnect the plug of the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor). | | -
Disconnect the coolant hose to the heat exchanger (quick-release fitting). | | -
Remove the oil dipstick tube. | | -
Remove the crankshaft position sensor (CKP sensor) cover. - Disconnect the plug from the CKP sensor.

Remove the intake manifold heat shield (three nuts). | | -
NOTE:Close off the intake ports with clean, lint-free cloths. Detach the intake manifold. | Installation All Vehicles | -
General note. - Renew the self-locking nuts.
- Thoroughly clean all mating faces and reusable parts and check them for damage.

Attach the intake manifold using a new gasket. | | -
Attach the intake manifold heat shield (three nuts). | | -
Connect the plug of the EI ignition coil. - Clip the wiring in place.

Connect the CKP sensor plug. - Install the CKP sensor cover.
| | -
Connect the coolant hose to the heat exchanger (quick-release fitting). | | -
Install the oil dipstick tube. | | -
Connect the ECT sensor plug. | | -
Connect the plugs to the CMP sensor and oil pressure switch. | Vehicles with mass air flow (MAF) sensor | -
Connect the plugs and install the vacuum lines. - Two plugs (engine wiring loom).
- Vacuum line - brake servo.
- Vacuum line - EVAP.
- Clip the wiring bracket in place.
| Vehicles with temperature/manifold absolute pressure (T-MAP) sensor | -
Join the connectors and push on the vacuum hoses. - Engine wiring loom plug.
- Vacuum line - fuel pressure control.
- Vacuum hose - crankcase ventilation.
- Vacuum line - brake servo.
- T-MAP sensor connector.

Push on the oil filler cap. - Push the crankcase breather hose onto the T-piece.

Attach the throttle cable. - Hook the accelerator cable onto the throttle plate lever.
- Push on the clip.
- Clip the accelerator cable in place.

Push on the spark plug connectors until they click in place. - Clip the ignition cables in place.
| | -
Attach the intake pipe to the air cleaner. | | -
Connect the intake pipe to the throttle body. | | -
Finishing operations. - Check the routing of cables and hoses and fix them in place with cable ties.
- Start the engine, bring it up to operating temperature and check for leaks.
