Description and Operation Brake System, Disc WARNING:Brake fluid contains polyglycol ethers and polyglycols. Avoid contact with eyes. Wash hands thoroughly after handling. If brake fluid contacts eyes, flush eyes for 15 minutes with cold running water. Get medical attention if irritation persists. If taken internally, drink water and induce vomiting. Get medical attention immediately. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury. NOTE:Brake system materials inherently generate noise and heat in order to dissipate energy. As a result, occasional squeal is possible, which may be enhanced by severe environmental conditions, such as cold, heat, rain, snow, salt and mud. The front disc brake system consists of the following components: - brake pads
- single piston, floating brake caliper
- brake discs
- caliper anchor bracket
- brake hoses
Two bolts retain the brake caliper to the anchor plate. The brake caliper anchor plate is retained to the knuckle assembly with two bolts. The inner disc pad is held in place on the caliper with clips. The outer disc pad is held in place on the anchor bracket by a spring clip. Vehicles with steel wheels are equipped with standard brake discs and vehicles with alloy wheels are equipped with anti-corrosion coated brake discs. |
