Puller, end-track rod

1. Standard preparatory measures
   • Make a note of the radio keycode.
   
   CAUTION:After making a note of the pre-set radio stations disconnect the battery negative lead.
   • Make a note of the pre-set radio stations.

2. Remove the engine cover.
   • Unclip the positive crankcase ventilation hose.

3. Disconnect the plug for the right-hand heated oxygen sensor (HO2S).

4. Remove the EGR valve.
   • Detach the EGR pipe from the EGR valve.

5. Undo the front right-hand wheel nuts and raise the vehicle.
   For additional information, refer to 100-02 in this section.
   

6. Remove the right-hand lower wheel arch trim panel.

7. Detach the right-hand track rod end.

8. Detach the engine undershield (if equipped).

9. Remove the front exhaust pipe and catalytic converter.

10. Remove the center bolt from the left-hand engine roll restrictor.

11. Detach the right-hand engine roll restrictor from the subframe.

12. Swivel the engine until it rests against the left-hand engine roll restrictor bracket.
    • Secure the engine in this position by inserting a suitable wooden wedge on the right-hand side.

13. Remove the generator as described in Operation Number 31 414 0.

14. Detach the HO2S and the EGR pipe from the right-hand exhaust manifold.

15. Detach the right-hand exhaust manifold (shown on an engine removed from the vehicle).
    • Remove any gasket residue.

   NOTE:Tightening sequence.
   Attach the right-hand exhaust manifold using a new gasket and new nuts.

2. Loosely attach the EGR pipe to the right-hand exhaust manifold.

3. Lower the vehicle.

4. Install the EGR valve.

5. Raise the vehicle.

6. Attach the EGR pipe and the HO2S to the right-hand exhaust manifold.

7. Install the generator as described in Operation Number 31 414 0.

8. Remove the wooden wedge from the right-hand side.

9. Screw the center bolt into the left-hand engine roll restrictor.

10. Attach the right-hand engine roll restrictor to the subframe.

11. Install the front exhaust pipe and catalytic converter using new nuts and gaskets.

12. Attach the engine undershield (if equipped).

13. Install the right-hand lower wheel arch trim panel.

14. Attach the right-hand track rod end (left-hand side shown).

15. Fit the right-hand front wheel.

16. Lower the vehicle.

17. Connect the plug for the right-hand HO2S sensor.

18. Tighten the right-hand front wheel nuts.

19. Install the engine cover.
    • Clip on the positive crankcase ventilation hose.

20. Standard finishing operations.
    • Connect the battery earth lead.
    • Enter the radio keycode.
    • Reprogram the pre-set radio stations.
    • Reset the clock.
