Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
The ignition system comprises a Powertrain Control Module and ignition coils. The Powertrain Control Module provides ignition management by triggering pairs of connected coils at the required time.
Each trigger pulse fires a coil to a spark plug in a cylinder which is on ignition and to one that is on exhaust. This ensures that unburnt fuel residues remaining in the cylinder on the exhaust cycle are re-ignited to provide cleaner exhaust emissions.
