Regulator – Exhaust gas recirculation vacuum
The engine emission control system comprises and exhaust gas recirculation valve, pipe and regulator. The system allows a measured quantity of exhaust gas to be directed back to the inlet manifold.
The exhaust gas is introduced to the incoming charge, where it dilutes the air fuel mixture and lowers the peak gas temperature, reducing nitrogen oxide exhaust emissions. The gas is drawn through the pipe from the exhaust to the inlet manifold via the exhaust gas recirculation valve. The valve is vacuum operated by a tube from the inlet manifold.
