Removal and Installation

Removal

All Vehicles
WARNING:
WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can ignite. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.

  1. Remove the intake connecting pipe.
Up to 97 MY
  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take care not to damage the O-ring seal on the turbocharger intake pipe.
    Remove the charge air cooler.
97 MY onwards
  1. Remove the charge air cooler bolts.

  1. Remove the charge air cooler.
    1. Detach the charge air cooler from the air intake pipe.
    1. Remove the charge air cooler.

Installation
  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable mixtures are always present and can ignite. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
    Install the components in reverse order (97 MY onwards shown, Up to 97 MY similar).
    • Install a new O-ring seal.
    • Ensure the O-ring seal and joints are correctly located.
