General Procedures

LPG recovery equipment
WARNING:
WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:This procedure involves fuel handling. Be prepared for fuel spillage at all times and always observe fuel handling precautions. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:The fuel pressure must be released before attempting any repairs. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:The evacuating area must be clearly identified with signs warning against smoking and the use of naked lights, flames within the immediate vicinity. There must be no drains or pits where LPG or vapor could accumulate. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:When evacuating an LPG system thermal protection gloves and eye protection must be worn at all times. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING:
WARNING:Always disconnect the vehicle battery ground cable before commencing any service or repair procedure. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
CAUTION:
CAUTION:All disconnected fuel lines and unions must be protected to prevent contamination.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to Section  414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables.
  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Do not install the alternative fuel supply relay fuse until the service or repair procedure is completed. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    Remove the alternative fuel supply relay fuse.
  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Always connect the recovery equipment ground cable to the vehicle before proceeding to the next step. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    Connect the recovery equipment ground cable to the vehicle.

  1. Remove the fuel line dry break connector cap.
  1. Connect the recovery equipment fuel line to the dry break connector.
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The LPG recovery equipment must be operated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
    Evacuate the fuel line.
  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Always disconnect the recovery equipment fuel line from the vehicle before proceeding to the next step. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
    Disconnect the recovery equipment fuel line from the dry break connector.
  1. Disconnect the recovery equipment ground cable from the vehicle.

  1. Install the dry break connector cap.
  1. Initialize the door window motors. For additional information, refer to Section  501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms.
