There are two types of tank available, a cylindrical tank and a ring tank. The wagon and four door vehicles can be fitted with either tank design. The five door vehicle can only be fitted with the ring tank.
Ring Fuel Tank
The ring fuel tank is fitted in the spare wheel compartment. The ring fuel tank can only be filled to 80% of its volume, giving a capacity of 48 litres to allow for expansion of the LPG.
The whole assembly is contained beneath the luggage compartment protective floor covering.
Fuel Filter
The fuel filter is of a conventional construction being that of a paper element sealed within a steel canister. The fuel filter is located behind the rear muffler heat shield.
Cylindrical Fuel Tank
The cylindrical fuel tank is fitted to the front of the luggage compartment. The cylindrical fuel tank is secured by a steel mounting frame. The cylindrical fuel tank can only be filled to 80% of its volume, giving a capacity of 67 litres to allow for expansion of the LPG.
Fuel Tank Filler Valve
The fuel tank filler is located on the rear left-hand body panel and consists of the following components:
- a filling station hose connector
- a one-way valve
The filling station hose connector can accept adaptors to accommodate different filling connections, while the one-way valve prevents LPG escaping when the filler hose is disconnected.
