Disassembly and Assembly

Disassembly

  1. Remove the front seat.
    For additional information, refer to Front Seat in this section.
  1. Tilt the seat fully forward.

  1. Remove the backrest adjuster handwheel.

  1. Detach the seat base trim.
    1. Remove the three screws.
    1. Detach the rear clip.

  1. Remove the seat base trim.
    • Disconnect the seat height adjust switch.

  1. Detach the seat cover front plastic retaining strips.

  1. Detach the seat cover rear plastic retaining strip.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Behind the center backrest foam pad is an additional lumbar support. Note the position of the lumbar support foam pad to aid installation.
    Detach the center backrest cover and foam pad.
    1. Lift the center backrest cover and foam pad to access the retaining loops.
    • Detach the hook loop tape at the base of the foam pad.
    1. Detach the retaining loops from the backrest frame.

  1. Remove the center backrest cover and foam pad.
    • Cut the four hog rings.

  1. Detach the side bolster clips from the left and right-hand sides.

  1. Detach the rear of the seat cover.
    1. Roll the seat cover up the backrest.
    1. Detach the hooks from the backrest frame on the left and right-hand sides.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The head restraint clips are located under the seat backrest foam pad. To release the clips locate their position through the foam pad and press while lifting the head restraint.
    Remove the head restraint.
    1. 115 mm.
    1. 80 mm.
    1. 120 mm.

  1. Remove the backrest cover.
    1. Roll the backrest cover over the backrest to access the hog rings at the top left and right-hand sides.
    1. Cut the five hog rings on the left and right-hand sides.

  1. Remove the foam pad.
  1. Remove the side air bag module. For additional information, refer to Section  501-20A Safety Belt System / 501-20B Supplemental Restraint System.

Assembly
  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Only covers with the air bag label are to be installed. Use of the incorrect cover will impair deployment of the side air bag module. Failure to follow this warning may result in personal injury.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure the center backrests hook loop tape is fastened before installing the additional lumbar support foam pad. Make sure the lumbar support foam pad does not come into contact with the hook loop tape. Inform the customer that the lumbar support may require adjustment.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Use hog ring pliers to close the hog rings. Do not use any other tool. The hog rings must be closed to overlap 8 mm as illustrated.
