Remove the battery ground cable. For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures). | Left-hand drive vehicles | -
CAUTION:Make sure the clutch slave cylinder supply line and grommet is not damaged while detaching the supply line from the support bracket. Detach the clutch slave cylinder supply line from the support bracket. | Right-hand drive vehicles | -
CAUTION:Make sure the clutch slave cylinder supply line and grommet is not damaged while detaching the supply line from the support bracket. Detach the clutch slave cylinder supply line from the support bracket. | All vehicles | -
CAUTION:Cap the hydraulic control unit (HCU) electrical connector and socket to prevent dirt and fluid ingress. Disconnect the hydraulic control unit (HCU) electrical connector. - Depress the locking tangs.
- Release the retainer.

CAUTION:Cap the brake tubes to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. NOTE:Make a note of the position of the brake tubes to aid installation. Disconnect the in-line brake tube union. | 7. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s). 5 - HCU and support bracket assembly retaining bolts 8. To install, reverse the removal procedure. | -

For additional information, refer to: Brake System Bleeding (206-00 Brake System - General Information, General Procedures). | Removal Details Item 1 : HCU to brake master cylinder brake tubes CAUTION:Cap the brake tubes to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. CAUTION:Plug the HCU ports to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. NOTE:Make a note of the position of the brake tubes to aid installation. NOTE:Detach the brake tubes from the securing clips. Item 2 : HCU to left-hand front brake tube CAUTION:Cap the brake tube to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. CAUTION:Plug the HCU port to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. NOTE:Make a note of the position of the brake tube to aid installation. | -
Disconnect the brake tube from the HCU. | Item 3 : HCU to right-hand front brake tube CAUTION:Cap the brake tube to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. CAUTION:Plug the HCU port to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. NOTE:Make a note of the position of the brake tube to aid installation. Item 4 : HCU to rear brake tubes CAUTION:Cap the brake tubes to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. CAUTION:Plug the HCU ports to prevent fluid loss or dirt ingress. NOTE:Make a note of the position of the brake tubes to aid installation. Item 6 : HCU | -
Detach the HCU and support bracket from the bulkhead and wheelhouse assembly. | | -
Detach the HCU from the support bracket. | Installation Details Item 6 : HCU NOTE:Make sure the rubber collars are correctly positioned in the support bracket before installation.
