Release Tool, Belt Tensioner

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
   For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
   

2. Remove the engine cover.

3. Remove the generator upper retaining bolt.
   • Remove the wiring harness support bracket from the generator upper retaining bolt.

4. Raise and support the vehicle.
   For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

5. Remove the engine undershield.

6. Remove the splash shield.

7. Using the special tool detach the accessory drive belt.

8. Remove the generator cooling duct.

9. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

10. Remove the generator lower retaining nuts and position the generator to one side to enable access to the generator support bracket retaining bolts.

11. Remove the generator support bracket retaining bolts and move the generator support bracket and the accessory drive belt tensioner assembly to one side.

12. Remove the accessory drive belt.

1. Install the accessory drive belt.

2. Install the generator support bracket retaining bolts.

3. 

   NOTE:Do not tighten the generator lower retaining nuts at this stage.
   Install the generator and install the generator lower retaining nuts finger tight.

4. Lower the vehicle.

5. 

   NOTE:Make sure that the wiring harness support bracket is installed.
   Install the generator upper retaining bolt.

6. Raise and support the vehicle.
   For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

7. Tighten the generator lower retaining nuts.
   1. Tighten the generator rear lower retaining nut.
   2. Tighten the generator front lower retaining nut.

8. Connect the generator electrical connectors.

9. Install the generator cooling duct.

10. Using the special tool, install the accessory drive belt.

11. Install the splash shield.

12. Install the engine undershield.

13. Lower the vehicle.

14. Install the engine cover.

15. Connect the battery ground cable.

16. Initialize the door window motors.
    For additional information, refer to: Door Window Motor Initialization (501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms, General Procedures).
