Removal and Installation All vehicles | -
Remove the central junction box (CJB). For additional information, refer to: (418-00, Removal and Installation). | | -
Remove the engine cover. - Remove the oil level indicator and the oil filler cap.

Remove the battery. For additional information, refer to: Battery (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation). | | -
Disconnect the plug of the mass air flow (MAF) sensor. | | -
Remove the air cleaner. - Disconnect the air cleaner intake pipe from the front fender.
- Disconnect the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose from the valve cover.
- Disconnect the turbocharger intake tube from the turbocharger.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the air cleaner.

CAUTION:Check that the windshield wiper motor is in the parked position. Remove the windshield wiper arms. | | -
Remove the cowls. - Pull the cowls from the retaining groove.

Disconnect the anti-theft alarm horn electrical connector. | All vehicles | -
Remove the windshield wiper motor and linkage. - Disconnect the windshield wiper motor connector.

Remove the right and left-hand strut mount reinforcement covers. | | -
Remove the right and left-hand suspension strut nuts. | | -
CAUTION:After removing the right and left-hand strut mount reinforcements, reinstall the suspension strut nuts. Failure to observe this instruction can cause damage to the front suspension. Remove the right and left-hand strut mount reinforcements. | | -
Remove the washer water reservoir. For additional information, refer to: (501-16, Removal and Installation). | | -
Remove the left and right front wheel arch covers. | | -
Remove the engine undershield (if equipped). | Vehicles with fuel powered additional heater | -
Disconnect the fuel powered additional heater connector. | 18. Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration(s) and table(s). 2 - Bayonet bulb holder - turn signal lamp 3 - Connector - anti-lock brake system wheel sensor (ABS) 4 - Low pressure switch connector 5 - Windshield washer system pump connector 6 - Disconnect headlamp washer pump electrical connector (if equipped). 7 - Clips - engine compartment wiring harness NOTE:Vehicles with electric booster heater only 9 - Nuts - electric booster heater voltage supply cable 10 - Ground cable - electric booster heater 12 - Bayonet bulb holder - turn signal lamp 13 - Anti-Lock Brake Sensor Connector 14 - Clips - engine compartment wiring harness 17 - Bracket - refrigerant line (unclip) 19 - Clips - engine compartment wiring harness 20 - Temperature sensor connector - fuel powered additional heater 21 - Engine compartment wiring harness 24 - Electrical connector - engine wiring harness (only vehicles with diesel engine) 25 - Clips - engine compartment wiring harness 26 - Connector - heated windshield (if equipped) 27 - Engine compartment wiring harness 28 - Connector clip - heated windshield (if equipped) 29 - Connector - heated windshield (if equipped) 30 - Clips - engine compartment wiring harness 31 - Engine compartment wiring harness NOTE:Only vehicles with windshield washer nozzles with heating 33 - Wiring harness clips - windshield washer nozzles with heating 35 - Connector - brake fluid level warning light switch 36 - Connector - ABS pressure sensor 38 - Connector - pre-glow relay (if fitted) 39 - Bolt - battery junction box (BJB) cover 42 - Engine wiring harness connector 45 - Clips - engine compartment wiring harness 48 - Connector - left-hand headlamp (unclip) 49 - Connector - front crash sensor 50 - Connector - bonnet lock 51 - Clips - engine compartment wiring harness 52 - Instrument cluster wiring harness connector 53 - Electrical sockets - passenger compartment wiring harness 56 - Connector - generic electronic module (GEM) 59 - Connector - accelerator pedal position sensor 60 - Stop lamp switch connector 61 - Brake Pedal Position (BPP) Switch Connector 62 - Connector - clutch pedal position switch (CPP switch) 63 - Clips - engine compartment wiring harness 65 - Engine compartment wiring harness (LHD version shown) 19. To install, reverse the removal procedure. CAUTION:Move the windshield wiper motor to the parked position before installing the wiper arms. NOTE:Install new suspension strut nuts. Slide the wiring harness into the engine compartment. | Item 15 : Engine compartment wiring harness | -
NOTE:Only vehicles with gas discharge headlamps Detach the wiring harness of the headlamp range control front sensor from the wheel housing. - Detach the wiring harness clips.
- Disconnect the connector of the headlamp range control front sensor.

Slide the wiring harness into the engine compartment. | Item 16 : High pressure switch connector | -
Detach the coolant expansion tank from the wheel housing and lay it to one side. | Item 23 : Electrical connector - powertrain control module (PCM) (only vehicles with diesel engine) | -
CAUTION:Be certain not to damage the ground cable of the PCM while drilling out the rivets of the PCM security shield. Remove the powertrain control module security shield. | Item 32 : Connector - windshield washer nozzles with heating | -
Remove the hood insulation. - Remove the clips.
- Take out the insulation.

Detach the sockets of the windshield washer nozzles with heating from the hood. | Item 34 : Wiriing harness - windshield washer nozzles with heating | -
Lay the wiring harness in the engine compartment. | Item 37 : Electrical connector - hydraulic control unit (HCU) | -
Unclip and pull out the ABS module wiring harness. | Item 54 : Ground cable bolt | -
Slide the damping matting to the side and remove the bolt. | Item 55 : Ground cable - passenger compartment wiring harness | -
Pull out the ground cable behind the damping matting. | Item 57 : Clips - engine compartment wiring harness | -
Slit the damping matting. | Item 58 : Engine compartment wiring harness | -
Pull out the wiring harness behind the damping matting. | Item 64 : Engine compartment wiring harness | -
Slide the engine compartment wiring harness, together with the rubber grommet, into the engine compartment. | |
