Global positioning system (GPS) antenna splitter - vehicles with telematics
Antenna
The GPS and global system for mobile communications (GSM) functions and AM/FM radio reception all use a common antenna.
GPS antenna splitter - vehicles with telematics
The antenna splitter separates the GPS antenna cable to provide inputs to both the telematics control module and the navigation system display module.
The navigation system also receives input signals from the following components:
- The reversing lamp switch
- The anti-lock brake system (ABS) hydraulic control unit
Reversing lamp switch
The reversing lamp switch input allows the navigation system display module to determine the vehicle's forward or rearward direction.
Hydraulic control unit
The hydraulic control unit provides information to the navigation system display module to allow the system to determine distance covered. The input is generated from the rear wheel speed sensors.
