Removal

Lifting Bracket, Engine
General Equipment
Mounting table set
  1. Refer to: Fuel System Pressure Release (310-00 Fuel System - General Information, General Procedures).
  1. Remove the following items:
    1. Refer to: Battery (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Air Cleaner (303-12C Intake Air Distribution and Filtering - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), Removal and Installation).
  1. Drain the coolant.
    Refer to: Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding (303-03C Engine Cooling - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), General Procedures).

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that the inside of the pipe ends are clean and free of oil residue.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Gearshift cables must not be kinked or bent.

  1. Remove the following items:
    1. Refer to: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System, Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Front Halfshaft LH (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).
    1. Refer to: Accessory Drive Belt (303-05C Accessory Drive - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), Removal and Installation).

  1. Refer to: Quick Release Coupling (310-00 Fuel System - General Information, General Procedures).

  1. Position the PAS pump to one side.

  1. Position the A/C compressor to one side.

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Make sure that the engine and transmission assembly is on wooden blocks and secured with suitable retaining straps.
    General Equipment: Mounting table set

  1. Refer to: Lifting (100-04 Noise, Vibration and Harshness, Description and Operation).
  1. Refer to: Starter Motor (303-06C Starting System - 2.5L Duratec (VI5), Removal and Installation).

  1. Install the Special Tool(s): 303-122
